About James M Hill High School

James M. Hill High School, with 650 students enrolled, is a vibrant and inclusive community that prides itself on being friendly, accepting, and committed to excellence. Our school spirit is best captured by the term “Tommie”/’ta:mi/noun—representing individuals who work to the best of their ability, enjoy fishing, bleed green and gold, and always strive to give back to their community. At JMH, we believe in fostering a supportive environment where everyone feels welcome and encouraged to succeed.

We are most proud of our strong sense of community, which is at the heart of everything we do. Our mascot, the Tommie Cat, reflects the legacy of two former high schools—St. Thomas High and Chatham High—and pays tribute to the spirit of those who came before us. James M. Hill also has a rich tradition of athletic success, with former students excelling in sports at the professional level, including MLB player Jason Dickson and NHL players Brad Malone and Rick Knickle. As we celebrated our 50th anniversary in 2023, we honored the school’s long-standing commitment to providing students with a well-rounded education, blending academic achievement with athletic excellence.
