  • $500.00 bursaries are awarded to successful applicants.

Dairy Farmers of NB

Dairy Farmers of New Brunswick (DFNB) supports students pursuing education in agriculture and the dairy industry. We offer three scholarships to recognize academic achievement and commitment to the future of farming.

Available Scholarships
🔹 DFNB Memorial Scholarship ($1,000)
For students entering the first year of a university degree program related to agriculture or dairy.

🔹 DFNB Scholarship ($1,000)
For students in a Technician or Technology diploma/certification program related to agriculture or dairy.

🔹 George B. Whalen Memorial Scholarship ($1,000)
For students entering their second, third, or fourth year of a university degree program related to agriculture or dairy.

Maurice Daigle Memorial Scholarship Fund

DUE: September 30th, 2026

This Memorial Scholarship Fund was created in 1990 by the Board of Directors of Potatoes New Brunswick in memory of Maurice Daigle.

Maurice Daigle was a potato producer that lost his life as result of an accident at the age of 36.  Maurice, along with his two brothers, farmed in the Saint-André area on a mixed farm (potatoes, grain and beef cattle).  In addition to farming, Maurice was heavily involved in the advancement of agriculture and was a director on the board of Potatoes New Brunswick for several years.

The Maurice Daigle Memorial Scholarship Fund is given annually to kin of eligible potato farmers in the province of New Brunswick who are pursuing post secondary education in agriculture or agriculture related field of study.

Eligibility Criteria:

This Scholarship is offered to a student who is furthering their Agricultural Education at a University (or) College.

Available for students whose parents are (or) were a registered growers with Potatoes New Brunswick.

Applicants must be enrolled on a full-time basis and provide a copy of enrollment from College (or) University.

Douglas Smith Memorial Scholarship

DUE: May 15th, 2026

Eligibility:

1. Must be a JMH graduate.

2. Must have attended Miramichi Rural School.

3. Applicant must be pursuing a Post Secondary Education Program.

4. Based on a) academic achievement (attach current transcript of marks), b) effort and c) need.

NBTA Credit Union Education Awards

$2000 DUE: April 24, 2026

This scholarship is for students whose parents have an NBTA Credit Union banking account 

ELIGIBILITY 

1. Applicants must be member-owners for at least one year; or applicants must have a parent/guardian or grandparent who has been a member-owner for at least one year. 

2. All scholarship applications must be accompanied by the following:  

• Name(s) of parent/guardian or grandparent who is a member-owner at NBTA Credit Union, if you are not a member-owner. 

• An acceptance letter if you are not already in University/College. 

• An official signed transcript from High school, University, or College. 

• 2 signed letters of reference (you may include teachers, clergy, employers, Credit Union managers or other professionals; you may not include family members or classmates.) 

QUALIFICATIONS 

The criteria for the awards are listed below and are weighted equally: 

(a) Academic achievement 

(b) Co-operative community service (volunteer work) 

(c) Financial need 

(d) Success in spite of extraordinary circumstances
