CUPE LOCAL 3863 JOHN J BRYENTON MEMORIAL

$1000 – DUE: May 1, 2026

The City of Miramichi Inside Workers CUPE Local 3863 has (1) bursary valued at $1000.00 in memory of John James Bryenton.  

The bursary is for the students’ first year attendance at any university, college, or community college.  

Preference will be given to sons and daughters or legal wards of members of CUPE Local 3863

Basis of award is marks, aptitude, promise and financial need. Application forms are available from members of the Education Committee of Local 3863 or your high school guidance counsellor.   The application must be returned to the Education Committee of Local 3863 no later than May 1, 2026.

Scott Bowes Memorial Scholarship

$1000 – DUE: May 20th, 2026

Eligibility:  A $1,000 scholarship will be awarded to a student graduating from James M. Hill Memorial High School who will be entering trade or a trade apprenticeship program.

Criteria:  Community and School Involvement.

Presentation:  The award will be presented by a member of the Scott Bowes family.  Written confirmation from the post-secondary institution must be provided.

Selection of Scholarship:  A committee comprising of the Scott Bowes family will review all applications. What do you know about Scott?

Application Deadline:  May 20th of each year.

Ron Morrison Memorial Vocational Service Award 2026

ROTARY CLUB OF CHATHAM

$1000 – DUE: May 21st, 2026

The Rotary Club Of Chatham recognizes one student at JMH each year that models volunteerism in both the community at large and school. The Rotary motto “Service Above Self” conveys the humanitarian spirit of the organization’s more than 1.2 million members. Strong fellowship among Rotarians and meaningful community and international service projects characterize Rotary worldwide. While a focus on academic achievement is essential to any student’s future success, it is also important to place a high value on volunteering to community organizations and internally to school related activities.

Eligibility: The Rotary Club Of Chatham will award ONE $1,000 CDN scholarship to a current graduate of JMH who has demonstrated “service above self” throughout their high school years.

This application is based on a number of components including:

  • Academic Achievement – maintaining a consistent academic record;
  • Community Involvement – ability to demonstrate meaningful contributions to community activities:
  • School Involvement – applicants must demonstrate their voluntary participation in school activities
  • Provide a short document outlining why you feel you deserve this volunteer award.

This award will be presented by the current President of the Rotary Club of Chatham or designate at this years JMH graduation. The student in question will be invited to a Rotary Club to be recognized.

The deadline for submission of this application is MAY 21st, 2026. This application must be dropped off at the JMH Main Office by the due date. 

Rotary Club of Chatham 2026 Scholarship Application

$2000 – DUE: May 21st, 2026

The Rotary Club of Chatham will award two $2,000 scholarships to two current graduates of James M. Hill High School who will be pursuing post-secondary studies.

This application is based on a number of components including:

  • Academic Achievement – maintaining a consistent academic record;
  • Community Involvement – ability to demonstrate meaningful contributions to community activities:
  • Financial Need –provide detailed information on your financial statue and how you will finance your studies. Please provide information on all other scholarships / bursaries at time of application;
  • Provide a short document outlining why you feel you deserve this scholarship.

This scholarship will be presented by the current President of the Rotary Club of Chatham or designate at this years JMH graduation. The student in question will be invited to a Rotary Club to be recognized. The scholarship will be paid out half at graduation and the balance at the end of the first semester. The award will be conditional upon the Rotary Club of Chatham receiving written confirmation from the post-secondary institution that the Recipient has completed the first term of study and has enrolled in the second term of study. It will be the recipient’s responsibility to arrange for this written confirmation to be provided to the Rotary Scholarship Committee. Failure to provide the appropriate written confirmation will result in the award being forfeited.

The deadline for submission of this application is MAY 21st, 2026. This application must be dropped off at the JMH Main Office by that date.
