JMH Hosts Showcase of Learning

Added Feb 26, 2025

James M Hill hosted their semi-annual exhibition night on Wednesday, January 15th. Each semester students from a variety of classes present their semester projects to the public in a showcase event. These projects not only demonstrate that students have met course outcomes, but highlight potential solutions to problems that exist on local, regional, national and global levels.

Students fundraise for important causes, use technology to innovate solutions, or raise awareness on a host of issues. Teacher Mark Noel says “it is a great opportunity for students to apply course outcomes to real world problems”. One of this semester’s projects has been able to recycle plastic bottles into 3D-printer filament and then successfully use this filament to create new items—truly reduce, recycle, reuse at it’s best! This project has caught the attention of outside agencies such as the McKenna Institute and Brilliant Labs. Another project supports the parents of newborns in the Miramichi region, raising funds to create bags with essential supplies (diapers, formula, clothing etc) for those in need. Ten of these bags have been donated and will go home with families in the near future. Each project has a unique focus and approach.

JMH students and staff would like to thank the public for their interest and for visiting our showcase evening—each semester always garners great support. Also a shout-out to Brian Siddall at AVLTec for his continued support of JMH events!
