Rotary Club of Chatham 2026 Scholarship Application

$2000 – DUE: May 21st, 2026

The Rotary Club of Chatham will award two $2,000 scholarships to two current graduates of James M. Hill High School who will be pursuing post-secondary studies.

This application is based on a number of components including:

  • Academic Achievement – maintaining a consistent academic record;
  • Community Involvement – ability to demonstrate meaningful contributions to community activities:
  • Financial Need –provide detailed information on your financial statue and how you will finance your studies. Please provide information on all other scholarships / bursaries at time of application;
  • Provide a short document outlining why you feel you deserve this scholarship.

This scholarship will be presented by the current President of the Rotary Club of Chatham or designate at this years JMH graduation. The student in question will be invited to a Rotary Club to be recognized. The scholarship will be paid out half at graduation and the balance at the end of the first semester. The award will be conditional upon the Rotary Club of Chatham receiving written confirmation from the post-secondary institution that the Recipient has completed the first term of study and has enrolled in the second term of study. It will be the recipient’s responsibility to arrange for this written confirmation to be provided to the Rotary Scholarship Committee. Failure to provide the appropriate written confirmation will result in the award being forfeited.

The deadline for submission of this application is MAY 21st, 2026. This application must be dropped off at the JMH Main Office by that date.

The North Shore (NB) Regiment Heritage Foundation Bursary

Eligibility 

In order to be eligible for a NSNBR Heritage Foundation Educational Bursary, you must be a serving, former or retired member of the Regiment or their spouse, child, grandchild, great grandchild, nephew, niece, grandnephew, grandniece, great-grandnephew, great-grandniece, or a member of a NSNBR Cadet Corps.   

Must be registered as a full-time student in a first-year program of a post-secondary school at the time of application.   Must provide an official document from their academic institution confirming that they are accepted for the following academic year and indicating that a diploma or degree is underway Must have sponsorship from an educator that knows the applicant at the same school (secondary school), and a reference letter from him/her Must include a personal motivational letter outlining your reasons for application, your goals, and relevant background (no more than one page single spaced). Must provide an up-to-date transcript of their academic records.

John W. Hawkes Memorial Scholarship

$1000 – DUE: May 15th, 2026

Submit to the main office at JMH by Friday, May 15th, 2026

Proof of enrolment is required before release of funds

ELIGIBILITY:

1.  Must be pursuing post-secondary education, entering a trade/vocational school or attending       university, in a program which is a minimum of one year in duration.

2. Must exhibit a responsible work ethic in course work, and commitment to extra-curricular activities (school and/or community).

3. Must demonstrate and promote “Tommie Spirit” through participation in the interests of the school community (ie, volunteering, fundraising, awareness groups, sports, clubs, tutoring…).

4. Must be a genuine, caring individual who maintains a positive attitude in the face of challenges, and who is well-liked and respected by students and teachers.

          5. Application must have the names of two of your teachers who can be contacted for more information.

Fr. Nicholas J. Power Memorial Scholarship

$500 – DUE: May 15th, 2026

The Fr. Nicholas J. Power Memorial Scholarship is open by application to all

eligible students from the parish of Our Lady of Lourdes – Miramichi (St. Patrick’s,

Most Pure Heart of Mary, & St. Edward’s) who are receiving their high school

diploma in June 2026. Applicants must be planning to pursue post –secondary

studies/training within the next school year (2026–2027).

Applicants must provide the scholarship selection committee with:

1) A copy of their acceptance letter to a post–secondary program issued by

the University/College/Institution.

2) A brief description about how the applicant has been active within the

parish of Our Lady of Lourdes (St. Patrick’s, MPHM, or St. Edward’s).

3) Two letters of reference. (Offered by non –family members who have known

the applicant for at least two years, andmust indicate in what capacity.)

Please submit application to the parish office no later than Friday, May 15, 2026.

Note:The recipient of the scholarship will receive payment once they have provided proof

of enrollment and after completion of their first term in the post–secondary program.
